The popular Hertford Heath annual raffle helped to raise funds for local groups for many years but this year we thought we’d try something different.

We’re literally starting from scratch with fundraising this year so we’re introducing scratch cards with a twist.  For just £1, you could win up to £20 towards purchases made locally.

Five local businesses are participating in the scheme.  Just pick up a card for £1, hold your breath and scratch!   If you get a winning ticket, you can use this up to the amount shown at any of the places shown below.

The ‘local’ at the centre of the village offers homemade food and pub favourites and is home to the local darts team.

A few simple rules...

  • Scratch cards must be purchased at the full price.  Each card costs £1.

  • Any contributions from the sale of scratch cards will be used to support the activities of local groups, societies and clubs operating in Hertford Heath.

  • Cards can be purchased at any of the participating businesses or from authorised sellers which may include representatives from local groups

  • The scheme is covered by the rules for a ‘Society Lottery’ and is covered by a licence – East Herts 21/0351/GASSL

  • Prize values are £1, £2, £3, £5 and £20.  These are not paid in cash but can be exchanged towards a purchase or part purchase at the participating businesses shown on the back of the card and on the websites/Social Media campaigns.

  • No change can be given.  i.e. If a winner has a £20 winning card which they exchange for something costing £18, change cannot be given in cash.

  • Winning cards cannot be exchanged for cash.

  • The win ratio is 3.8:1

  • The deadline for exchanging winning tickets will be announced on websites and Social Media once all tickets in this round of the promotion are sold.  Winning tickets cannot be exchanged after this date.

  • Winning cards can only be presented towards purchases at the participating businesses shown on the reverse of the card.

  • Redeeming winning cards is at the discretion of the participating businesses who may decide that they cannot be used towards certain purchases.  For example: items discounted in a sale or used towards an entry fee such as a quiz.
